Unveiling of George Peabody bust by Burleith artist Jeannette Murphy

Please join the Georgetown Neighborhood Library in the Peabody Room for the unveiling of a new portrait bust of financier and philanthropist George Peabody (1795–1869) by Burleith artist Jeanette Murphy. The event will  begin at 2 pm on Saturday, May 23, with a reception to follow.

Jeanette Murphy is a painter and sculptor whose studio is located at the Jackson Art Center, 3050 R Street NW.

The Peabody Room houses historical and current materials related to the history, culture, and economy of Georgetown. Found here are house histories (for most individual Georgetown addresses), subject vertical files, photographs, maps, neighborhood microfilmed newspapers, paintings, engravings, and artifacts that document various aspects of Georgetown life.
