National Night Out is Tuesday, August 4, 6–9 pm, at 37th and O Street NW, on the campus of Georgetown University in the circle in front of Healy Hall. This free event lets law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve share an evening to commemorate and develop partnerships. Free parking for attendees is available in the Southwest parking garage (enter off of Canal Road).
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
The Second District Police Station (MPD-2), its Citizens Advisory Council (CAC), and Georgetown University have partnered to bring you an evening of wonderful crime prevention material, the Game Truck, face painting, McGruff the Crime Dog, Jack the GU bull dog, food, drinks, games, giveaways, and much more. Representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, FBI, DC Fire Department, Homeland Security, Children’s Hospital, and others will be also be there.
