Join the Georgetown Book Club as we discuss Lauren Groff's 2015 novel Fates and Furies on Thursday, September 15, at 7:30 pm.
Charismatic Lancelot "Lotto" Satterwhite and stunning Mathilde meet when both are students at Vassar. Soon, they marry, working together to make it in New York City and eventually achieving success. While these are the basics of their story, though, they are far from the whole truth.
The knowability of that truth is at the heart of the novel, which, in its depiction of Lotto and Mathilde as individuals and as a pair, explores how boundaries can persist even in the face of ferocious love.
Copies of the novel are currently available at the Georgetown Neighborhood Library, and everyone is welcome!
