This managing change meeting will focus solely on historic designation (HD). The meeting will take place in the Media Center. Please use the main entrance from 35th Street and go up one level. The venue is directly above the entrance area. We will also have signs posted.
The confirmed speakers include:
- Rich Schmidt, a neighbor, who will present his findings of research on the effects of HD on house prices. (Effects of Historic Preservation on Property Values [November 2016] and More Effects [April 2018])
- Realtor Lenore Rubino, who will provide a description of current housing market conditions and trends in Burleith.
- Realtors Cynthia Howar, Nancy Itteilag, and Scott Polk—as well as Chryssa Wolfe from Hanlon Design Builders—who will share their perspectives on the effects of historic designation on house prices in general and Burleith hypothetically versus the status quo.
Please review the materials on the Explore Historic Designation page on the BCA website, which contains summaries of previous community meetings and other background.
The final meeting on managing change will be on Thursday, May 3, from 7-9 pm at Washington International School. This is an open forum where everyone can say their piece.
