Burleith Dining Club
The Burleith Dining Club consists of BCA members interested in social dining experiences such as potluck dinners, progressive dinners, or dining out at local restaurants. The club meets regularly on the first Friday of the month at 6:30 pm.

In November, 13 members participated in a progressive dinner. Appetizers were served at the home of Mary and Henry Meyer, followed by the main dish at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper, and finished with dessert at the home of Jeannette Murphy.
In October, 9 members met at the Palisades restaurant Et Voila! The outing was organized by Sheila Hegy.
In June, 10 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Tess Martinez.
In May, 9 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Monique Wedderburn.
In April, 9 members enjoyed a progressive dinner. The event began with appetizers (including delicious homemade May wine) at the home of May Vaughan. The group then progressed to the home of Monique Wedderburn for a delicious main dish of shrimp with mushrooms and rice. The dessert course at the home of Pat Scolaro featured chocolate mousse, lemon squares, and a great assortment of dessert liqueurs.
In February, 10 members met for a pot luck dinner at the Hillandale home of Monica Irmler.
In January, 16 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Pat Davies in Forest Hills. Pat is a former Burleith resident who served as editor of the Burleith Bell until she moved to Forest Hills.
2014 Activities
In December, 17 members met at the home of Pat Scolaro for a standup holiday cocktail buffet.
In November, 9 members met at Shanghai Lounge. Arrangements were made by club member Betty Amato. The fare included happy fish, salt 'n pepper prawns, crispy beef, happy eggplant, kung pao chicken, garlic stir fried bok choy, cumin pork, and veggie fried rice. No one left the table hungry, and the food was fabulous.
In October, 5 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper. Linda provided the main dish, Får i Kål, the national dish of Norway.
In May, 7 members had an Italian Night celebrating spring by the canal at Il Canale.
In April, 10 members enjoyed a progressive dinner. The event began with appetizers at the home of Mary and Henry Meyer. They then walked to the home of Tess Martinez for the main course, a delicious chicken casserole with rice. They finished with dessert at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper. Linda presented the group with a flaming baked Alaska.
In March, 9 members met at the home of Monique Wedderburn for a lovely pot luck dinner. Monique prepared a main dish of shrimp and scallops with a luscious sauce along with rice and mushrooms. Attendees brought wine, appetizers, asparagus, a delicious salad, and a wonderful dessert. It was a fantastic meal, and a great time was had by all.
In February, 10 members met at the Shanghai Lounge for a sumptuous dinner arranged by Betty Amato in the elegant upstairs dining room. The food was wonderful, and the conversation was scintillating. Unfortunately, Shanghai Lounge closed its doors and went out of business in early March. We missed that wonderful restaurant until, like the phoenix, it reappeared and now once again serves Burleith.
