The BCA is pleased to join DCPS, Chancellor Antwan Wilson, the Duke Ellington School of the Arts (DESA) Board of Directors, and the entire DESA family in welcoming Tia Powell-Harris and Sandi Logan, the school’s new leaders. We look forward to getting to know these dynamic leaders and wish them every success.

Ms. Powell-Harris is the chief executive officer. Previously, she served as director of artistic affairs for Duke Ellington before leaving in 2014. In returning to DESA, Ms. Harris will provide general leadership for the school as well as management of fundraising efforts and external partnerships.

Ms. Logan is the new principal, a role she assumes after serving as interim head of school. She has primary responsibility for issues relating to academic performance for the entire school.

This new model of leadership is designed to ensure DESA has the experience, talent, skills, and focus in all areas to meet the unique demands as a premier institution and is well-equipped to thrive and excel going forward.
