Think Clean

Burleith residents and visitors to our neighborhood are well hydrated, practice good dental hygiene, and protect themselves from germs. They also apparently have no qualms about littering, judging by the number of water bottles, plastic floss picks, purple hospital gloves, and other detritus that a hearty band of neighbors and GU students and staff picked up at the November 11 clean-up.

Despite the chilly temperatures, we had a strong turnout with about 35 volunteers. We were able to systematically cover every street and alley as well as Ellington Field. The volunteers collected a lot of litter ranging from Halloween candy wrappers to newspapers and cups.

All in all, it was a successful clean-up. Thanks to all who volunteered to spend a couple of hours on Veterans Day to keep Burleith beautiful.
