G-town Community Day
/By Linda Brooks
Many Burleith residents joined in for fun and camaraderie at this year’s Georgetown Community Day on Saturday, September 16, from 11 am to 1 pm on GU’s Healy Lawn. My husband, Ross Schipper, and I manned the Burleith Citizens Association table that featured BCA pamphlets, membership information, and of course the Burleith book. We showcased a new banner provided by the BCA (thanks to Kay Twomey for handling its procurement) that stood alongside a poster featuring pictures of BCA activities.
This annual event allows neighbors, GU faculty, staff, and students to come together to celebrate our shared community. It featured a moon bounce, face painting, a balloon artist, photos with the GU mascot, free burgers and hot dogs, and more. Community organizations as well as university offices shared their offerings.
