Burleith is lit and even more magical this year! Our streets have everything from restrained elegance and grand displays to joyful, whimsical, and riotous color.

THE STAGE SETTERS

Outstanding: Duke Ellington School of the Arts. What a beautiful sight on the newly renovated campus of Duke Ellington. A majestic tree adorned in blue and white lights stands proudly like a beacon. Garlands drape the railings and balustrades of the handsome, historic portico. It’s a bold, festive welcome to Burleith. Thank you, Duke Ellington, for being such a wonderful neighbor and starting what we hope will be an annual tradition—the large, bright Christmas tree!

Portrait of Elegance: 1704 35th Street. Bespoke and resplendent, this house continues to be the standard for beautiful holiday decoration. Lovely twinkling white lights, green wreaths with red bows, and green points of light dot the facade, while soft candles glow in the windows. The glimpse through the windows makes you long to go inside.

Grand 1st Prize Winner: 3623 S Street. Sparkly, bright and cheery—you can see the lights from nearly every corner of S Street! Colored lights adorn the sidewalk and windows, white light reindeer and sleigh in the yard, and dancing snowflake lights on the tree finish this enchanting display of holiday cheer!

2nd Prize: 1935 39th Street. Bright, large colored lights glow brightly in the dark night. The trees and railings are covered with sparkling lights that brighten 39th Street for all to delight in and enjoy.

HONORABLE MENTIONS AND JOYFUL SIGHTS

35th Place—Thank you neighbors for trimming your railings and balconies with such lovely lights and garlands. It brings special sparkle to this short, but important street in the neighborhood. At 1906, new residents bring a touch of New Mexico to their  home.

3541 S Street. Modern and moody blue lights lend a special glow to this home. Such simple beauty amid the bright displays up and down S street. (Photo not available.)

3709 Reservoir—For being the solo merry and bright spot on the Burleith side of the street.

T Street. For having more houses decked out than any other Burleith street.

Congratulations to all! Prizes will be awarded in the new year. We are blessed to have such a beautiful neighborhood. Wishing everyone a wonderful and happy holiday season and best wishes for 2018 from the Burleith Citizens Association.
