Year-End Holiday Events

By the BCA Board

As the holidays approach, the Burleith Citizens Association is sponsoring two year-end activities. Please stay well during this extraordinary, exhausting, and weird pandemic holiday season.

First, we will have Santa visits (by Zoom) on Saturday, December 19, from 11 am and 1 pm. This annual visit to Burleith is admittedly different than in years past, but should still be a highlight of Santa’s mid-December preparations. Sponsored by the BCA, this free event is open to all Burleith families.

If you would like Santa to Zoom into your home [iPad/computer screen] just long enough to hear this year’s secret wishes and to pose for some great [at least unique] family screenshots, please email Chief Elf Organizer (CEO) Brian Garback by Monday, December 14, with the subject line “Santa Visit” for further details and coordination. We may need to cap the participation number or combine virtual visits to get Santa to his next neighborhood on time, so please reply soon! (If you’d like to share any photos with Santa for the website, please email them to bell@burleith.org. For a bit of pre-Covid nostalgia, relive last year’s visits.)

Second, our annual holiday decoration contest is happening again. Judging will take place on Sunday, December 20, in the early evening. We’ll award prizes: $100 for first place; $50 for second; and two $25-third places. (Check out last year’s winners for inspiration.)
